A control category is a “container” for one or more control tables. StandWise has only one control category. In PlanWise and RegWise, several control categories can be created and linked to different Forest domains. Every control table includes a large number of settings. In normal cases, only a few of these have to be changed. As in version 2.0, you can select a simplified view, see Detailed or simplified view.

A control category that is always present is the Default Control Category, which is used unless another category is selected.
A specific type of control category is named Domain Settings and is marked in green. There is always a Default Domain Settings added by the program. It includes only one control table, Nature Conservation. The Nature Conservation table can be used to divide a stand into two parts, one for wood production and one for nature conservation (see Nature conservation treatments) It is, for example, possible to specify the proportion of the stand to be set aside for conservation. Unlike regular control categories, it is not possible to link several Domain Settings categories to one and the same Forest Domain. This would mean that different proportions of the area would be assigned different management programs. This cannot be handled by the system today.
The Default Domain Setting in the Nature Conservation table is used unless another choice is selected.

This is done in the same way as “Create new control category”, but the only control table that can be added is NatureConservation (which is done automatically in version 2.0 onwards).

In RegWise, Forest Domains are linked to control categories in a similar manner as in PlanWise, but there are some differences. In RegWise, different forest generations are not given different control categories. If several control categories are linked to a Forest Domain, it is specified how the control categories are distributed among the stands in the Forest Domain (percentage units). Only one management program can be created for each stand. If several control categories are used in one Forest Domain, the stands are randomly assigned a control category. The randomization can be controlled through a fixed random number seed when a simulation is started. Read more here: Allocation of treatment units to control categories in RegWise
