To help you to organize your work, each Heureka application keeps the information you are working with in projects. In the project, you will define the database that holds the forest information you will work with (the forest database), the database where your results will be stored (the result database), the analysis area to work with, and settings for different models. In the project, the application will keep track of the simulations you have run.

Typically, the forest database is stored on a server in your network, and your system administrator should be able to provide you with the name of the server and database and required logon credentials for the database.

The result database can be a predefined database on a server, but if you run simulations frequently it is recommended that you install SQL Server or SQL Server Express locally on your computer and create your own result database, as the result database will contain a lot of data that easily would fill up the server. Also, you should expect better performance with a local result database.

You can only work with one project at a time, but you can easily switch between projects.
