ClickOnce installation means that the program is installed under the user's profile. We recommend this as the first option because the programs are automatically upgraded when there are new versions available (if you accept). Another advantage is that the user does not need Administrator's priviligies to install the programs, which simplifies things when installing on "public" computers (such as PC:s in a computer lab at the university!). A drawback is that each application must be installed separately, and has its own installation of all components. Therefore, you could get in a situation where you have incompatible versions of, say, PlanStart and PlanWise, if you accept to upgrade one of them but not the other. Also, the file structure of program files is quite messy and cryptic, which could, hypothetically, be a problem if there is some problem with an installation and you need to search for certain files etc.

Anyhow, we have had few problems with ClickOnce during the last year.

		+	MSI ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Installer Windows Installer]) means that the program is installed as an "ordinary" program under Program Files. Some organsisations prefer this option instead of ClickOnce. For example, ClickOnce may be problematic in Citrix environments.

		+	One advantage of this option is that the applications are bundled into a single setup program. This means that all applications can be installed at the same time (except StandWise which must be installed separately on 64-bit machines). Another advantage is that shared components are only installed once, so the installation is quite "clean" and easy to inspect. This ensures that you use compatible versions of, say, PlanStart and PlanWise.

		+	The programs are not large, no more than 30 MB for the entire package. Still, you can choose not to install a certain application during the installation process, by clicking on the Advanced-button.

		+	We are planning to include an automatic upgrading procedure in the future. When this is done, we will probably recommend MSI as the first option.
