To be able to create a new project, you must know the location of the forest database, and either have access to an existing result database, or have sufficient privileges to create a new result database.

To create a new project

  1. On the File menu, select New
  2. Specify a Name for the project
  3. To change the folder where the project will be created, choose Browse (to the right of the Location combo box), and select a folder. The new project will be created in a sub folder in the selected folder. The sub folder will have the same name as the project
  4. To specify or change the location of the forest database, choose Browse (to the right of the Forest Database combo box), and enter the database configuration for the forest database
  5. To specify or change the location of the result database, choose Browse (to the right of the Result Database combo box), and enter the database configuration for the result database.
  • Tip 1
You can quickly select one of the most recent project locations, forest databases, and result databases you have used by dropping down and selecting a value from the corresponding combo box.
  • Tip 2
To see more information, you can resize the open project dialog.
  • Tip 3
To create a new result database, just choose Browse for result database, and enter a name for the new database in the database field. If you have sufficient privileges, the database will be created the first time you run a simulation.
  • Note
The password for the databases (if you use SQL Server Authentication) is encrypted, and to prevent unauthorized users from viewing the password only the encrypted password is shown in the forest and result database combo boxes. If you send the project file to another user or intend to use it on another computer, the password must be re-entered.
