The treatment unit represent one level in Heureka's forest model, and a forest area is typically divided into several treatment units. A treatment unit is a geographically delineated area for which a single treatment can be defined. For example, a thinning or clear-cutting is defined for a treatment unit as a whole. It consists of one or more cells. The forest state in a cell is represented by a reference unit.

A treatment unit is essentially equivalent to a stand.
