==Proportion standing and downed dead wood==

The proportion of dead wood that consists of downed logs vs. stand trees are handled as constant for a given decay class. Based on statistics from the Swedish NFI-data.

==Default decay class distribution==

If you import data on dead wood occurrence, but only for the total and not per decay class, a default distribution is assumed:

==Carbon concentration per decay class==

Values are given as percentage (%) of dead wood dry matter. Based on Sandström et al. 2007 (Table 10)<ref name = "SandstromEtAl2007">{{:Bibliografi:SandstromEtAl2007}}</ref>. For birch, no data was avaliable and has therefore been set to 50 % for all classes.

This result group contains: Estimates of carbon pool in harvested wood products stemming from the forest.

Calculation of dead wood

See model description for Harvested Wood Products.

The projected sequestration of carbon in Harvested Wood Products is a result of extracted volumes per assortment, and assumptions of the longevity of the derived products.

Result variables

Note!

All results currently only consider the contribution to the carbon pool from the starting point of the simulation an onwards. Any historically extracted volumes from the same areas have - and may still - be a part of the wood products carbon pool, but cannot be included for an arbitrary forest analysis area due to missing data on historical harvest levels. Such an existing carbon pool must be described outside of the current Heureka implementation.

Wood pulp and Wood based panels are made from Wood fiber commodity, which consists of pulpwood and sawmill by-products in the form of wood chips .
