Introduction

Growth is estimated with functions for tree basal area growth. Currently, there are three different growth functions implemented in Heureka:

  • Söderberg, U. 1986 (single-tree)[1]
  • Elfving, B. 2004 (single-tree)
  • Elfving, B. 2004 (whole-stand)

If the whole-stand function is used, total growth (per ha) is first determined at the prediction unit, and then distributed over individual trees with one of the single-tree functions. It is possible to weight growth functions, for example let the total growth (per ha) at a prection unit be the average of that returned by the single-tree and the whole-stand function.
