In the Nature Conservation Control Table you can configure how the general biological considerations should be simulated. Such considerations are usually taken when final felling of a treatment unit is performed. However, such areas can be set aside, from ordinary forest management, immediately (ie. in the beginning of the first period of an analysis).

''NB: This "Default Domain Settings", with its only control table "Nature Conservation", must be present in all forest domains. If you have constructed domains with nature reserves, ie. treatment units with Management System = Unmanaged, then make sure no areas are set aside twice.''

The Nature Conservation control table is located in a special control category of a type called Domain Setting. A forest domain must have one and only one link to such a category. The Domain Settings category type differs from the the control categories in that if may cause a treatment unit to be split. Since the area for a treatment unit is fixed througout the planning horizon, only one Domain Settings can be linked to a given forest domain.
